Author Guidelines

Detailed Author Guidelines for WAVES 2026 Conference

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal for the conference WAVES 2026. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet the minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

The WAVES 2026 Conference seeks to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research in the fields of Ayurveda, Indology, Vedic studies, and related disciplines. These author guidelines outline the formatting, citation, and submission requirements for research papers. Authors are required to adhere to these guidelines strictly to ensure smooth review, processing, and publication.

1. General Submission Guidelines

1. Research papers may be written in English, Hindi or Sanskrit.
2. Submissions must be original, unpublished works and not under consideration elsewhere.
3. Manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format using the article class.
4. Length: Papers should be between 3,000 to 5,000 words, excluding references and appendices (if any).
5. Submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

2. Manuscript Preparation

2.1 General Layout

1. Paper Size: A4 (8.27 × 11.69 inches).
2. Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
3. Font:
1. English: Times New Roman or other similar Unicode font, 12 pt.
2. Hindi: Unicode-compliant font, such as Sanskrit Text, Mangal, Lohit, Arial Unicode MS, 12 pt.
4. Line Spacing: 1.5 lines.
5. Alignment: Justified.
6. Paragraph Indentation: First line 0.5 inch.

2.3 Title Page

The title page should include:

1. Title of the Paper (16 pt, bold, centered).
2. Author(s) name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and email(s).
3. Author names should not include titles such as Dr. or Prof., and designations such as Professor/Assistant Professor must not be mentioned before or after the institutional affiliation. However author may give his Homepage/ResearchGate/Orcid link below the email.
4. Author(s) must mention his/her contact number with email in the paper. This will not be mentioned in final proceeding but will be used during the editorial process only if any clarification is required from the author end.
5. Abstract (minimum 200 and maximum 350 words) summarizing the research question, methodology, and findings.
6. 4–6 keywords.

2.4 Structure

The paper should follow this structure:

1. Introduction:
1. Clearly state the research objectives and the main argument or thesis of the paper.
2. Provide the broader context and significance of the study within the field of Indology or Vedic studies.
3. Include a brief literature review highlighting key works and identifying gaps your paper aims to address.
2. Methodology for papers in Ayurveda only (if applicable):
1. For single case reports, methodology should be described within the Case Presentation and Therapeutic Intervention sections.
2. For case series or observational studies, include a separate Methodology section placed after the Introduction.
3. Do not place the Methodology section immediately after the Abstract.
3. Discussion and Analysis:
1. Present the core arguments of your paper, supported by critical analysis and textual evidence.
2. Textual evidence, including slokas or mantras, should primarily be presented in footnotes rather than in the main body of the text.
3. Include such textual elements in the main body only if it is absolutely necessary for the clarity or impact of the argument.
4. Ensure that slokas or mantras are provided only if the following explanation or discussion is based directly on that text.
5. When including textual evidence, use appropriate transliteration standards (e.g., IAST for Sanskrit) and provide translations where required.
6. Sanskrit terms must be italicized when transliterated (e.g., Yajurveda).
7. For papers written in English use IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration) for transliterations and provide a clear English translation for readers. For example:

h.    vāgarthāviva saṃpṛktau vāgarthapratipattaye |
jagataḥ pitarau vande pārvatīparameśvarau ||

“I bow to Pārvatī and Parameśvara, the parents of the universe, who are inseparably united like word and meaning, for the attainment of true knowledge.”

9. Discuss the historical, cultural, philosophical, or literary contexts as applicable.
10. Incorporate analysis of primary sources (e.g., texts, inscriptions) and relevant secondary scholarship.
11. Address counterarguments or alternative interpretations where relevant.

4. Conclusion:
1. Summarize the key findings or arguments of your research.
2. Highlight the contribution of your work to the broader field of humanities or Indological studies.
3. Suggest potential avenues for further research or questions that remain unanswered.
5. References:
1. Include a comprehensive list of all works cited in the paper.
2. Follow the citation and referencing guidelines detailed in this document.
6. Appendices (if necessary):
1. Use appendices for supplementary data such as extensive textual excerpts, charts, or translations that are relevant but not central to the argument.

3. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

1. Tables: Number consecutively with captions above (e.g., “Table 1: Manuscript Analysis").
2. Figures: Number consecutively with captions below (e.g., “Figure 1: Astronomical Data").
3. Submit high-resolution images separately in .jpg or .png format.
4. Before putting an image, table or illustration in your paper keep in mind that these are going to publish in a book article form where page width and height will be limited. You must ensure that these image, table or illustration will be properly visible according to the given page width and height.
5. Any Table, Figure, and Illustration will be treated as unnecessary and will be excluded in editting process.
6. Do not put more that 5 images and 3 tables in your paper.

4. Citation and Referencing Style

All citations and references should follow these principles: The reference list should be included at the end of the manuscript and follow these guidelines:

1. Books (Chicago author–date format):
1. English: Kane, Pandurang Vaman. 1941. History of Dharmashastra. Vol. 1. Poona: Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.
2. काणे, पाण्डुरङ्ग वामन. 1941. धर्मशास्त्र का इतिहास (खंड 1)। पुणे: भण्डारकर प्राच्य अनुसन्धान संस्थान।
2. Journal Articles (Chicago author–date format):
1. English: Rao, Seshagiri. 2020. “Vedic Astronomy and Its Implications.” Journal of Indological Studies 42(1): 56–75.
2. राव, शेषगिरि. 2020. “वैदिक खगोलशास्त्र और इसके निहितार्थ।” भारतीय अध्ययन पत्रिका 42(1): 56–75।

4.1 In-Text Citations

1. Use the author-date system. For example:
1. English Papers: (Kane 1941, p. 256).
2. हिन्दी शोधपत्र: (काणे 1941, पृष्ठ 256)।
2. To insert citations in MS Word, follow these steps:
1. Open the References tab in MS Word.
2. Click on the Insert Citation button and choose Add New Source.
3. In the Create Source dialog box:
1. Select the Type of Source (e.g., Book, Journal Article, Website).
2. Enter the details for the source, including Author, Title, Year, Publisher, etc., in the respective fields.
4. After adding the source, click OK. The citation will appear in the document in the selected format.
5. To ensure the citation follows the author-date system, set the citation style to APA or a similar format under the Style dropdown in the References tab.
6. To add a page number or additional details:
1. Click on the citation in the document and select Edit Citation.
2. Enter the page number or specific details (e.g., p. 256 for English or पृष्ठ 256 for Hindi) in the provided field.
7. Repeat these steps for all citations.

4.2 Reference List

1. Once all citations are inserted, generate a reference list automatically:
1. Place the cursor where you want the references to appear.
2. Go to the References tab and click Bibliography.
3. Select Insert Bibliography or one of the pre-designed styles to generate the list.
4. Ensure the references match the style described in this document.
2. Manually edit the bibliography if necessary to conform to the exact format.

5. AI Policy

5.1 Transparency

1. Authors must clearly declare if AI tools (such as language models, grammar checkers, or image generators) were used in the preparation of the manuscript.
2. The declaration should appear in the Acknowledgment section or in a separate note at the end of the paper.

5.2 Authorship Responsibility

1. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
2. The corresponding author(s) remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of the paper.

5.3 Acceptable Use

1. AI tools may be used for grammar correction, language refinement, data visualization, or formatting assistance.
2. Substantive contributions such as idea generation, data analysis, or drafting of research arguments must be acknowledged but cannot replace human intellectual input.

5.4 Unacceptable Use

1. Submitting content generated entirely by AI without significant human oversight is prohibited.
2. AI-generated citations, references, or fabricated data are strictly not allowed.

6. Submission Process & Deadlines

6.1 Submission Process

1. Include the following in a single ZIP file:
1. Manuscript file (Word or LaTeX).
2. Figures/images in high resolution.
2. Acknowledgment of submission will be sent within 7 days.
3. All the papers will be submitted through Waves Journal page at Make a Submission. Its link is given below:

6.2 Deadlines

1. Hence all paper will be published before the conference and will be released at Inaugaral function of the conference therefor it is must to follows the guideline and deadlines of the conference.
2. Abstract Submission (250-300 words) - November 15, 2025
3. Full paper submission (3000-5000 words) - January 15, 2026
4. Accepted papers will be notified via e-mail - February 15, 2026
5. Final revised full paper submission - March 1, 2026
