About the Journal
The World Journal For Vedic Studies (WJFVS) is a premier peer-reviewed academic journal committed to promoting rigorous and comprehensive research in the field of Vedic traditions and Ancient Indian knowledge systems. As a global platform for scholarly inquiry, WJFVS provides an intellectual space where diverse perspectives converge to deepen our understanding of the Vedic heritage, its historical significance, and its continuing relevance in the modern world.
The journal recognizes the Vedas as some of the most ancient and profound expressions of human thought, encompassing spiritual, philosophical, literary, linguistic, and scientific insights that have significantly influenced the evolution of Hindu culture and contributed to global intellectual traditions. Vedic knowledge, passed down through millennia, continues to inspire academic study and cultural admiration across continents. From metaphysics and cosmology to mathematics, linguistics, medicine, and ethics, the contributions of Vedic thought remain foundational to many fields of human inquiry.
WJFVS seeks to bring attention not only to the textual richness of the Vedas but also to the broader civilizational legacy of Vedic people, whose contributions to science, technology, arts, and socio-political thought shaped ancient India's stature as a hub of knowledge and innovation. Historical sources, including Greek, Roman, Islamic, and early European accounts, attest to India's intellectual prominence and the wide-ranging appeal of its scholarly and spiritual traditions.
In an academic landscape often challenged by misinformation, cultural biases, or partial narratives, WJFVS plays a crucial role in encouraging accurate representation, critical reassessment, and constructive dialogue. The journal aims to bridge disciplinary divides by welcoming research from a wide array of fields such as Indology, philosophy, archaeology, comparative religion, linguistics, anthropology, history of science, and cultural studies. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, WJFVS enhances the scope and depth of Vedic studies and makes them accessible and relevant to contemporary academic and public discourse.
WJFVS actively invites original research articles, comprehensive reviews, translations, book reviews, and scholarly discussions that adhere to high academic standards. It offers a platform for both established scholars and emerging voices to contribute to the evolving understanding of Vedic traditions—both within their original historical contexts and in their modern global adaptations.
By cultivating a spirit of respectful debate and critical engagement, The World Journal For Vedic Studies upholds the values of academic integrity, inclusivity, and intellectual openness. It serves not only as a repository of knowledge but also as a catalyst for new explorations into the philosophical and scientific legacy of one of the world’s most enduring civilizations.
World Journal for Vedic Studies (WJFVS) is an initiative of World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES). World Association for Vedic Studies is a multidisciplinary academic society and forum for scholarly exploration of Vedic traditions—broadly understood as Indian, South Asian, or Indological studies. It is not limited to the Vedas or to India, but includes past, present, and global expressions of Vedic traditions. WAVES is a non-religious, non-ideological society open to all, regardless of background. Its mission is to foster understanding and appreciation of Vedic contributions to science, literature, technology, and culture, many of which remain underrecognized or misrepresented globally. Vedic traditions, among the oldest human thought systems, have influenced Hindu culture for millennia and now reach across the world. Historical accounts from Greeks, Romans, Islamic scholars, and European explorers affirm India's ancient intellectual and material wealth. Given widespread misconceptions and academic debates on Vedic heritage, WAVES serves as a respectful, inclusive platform for dialogue among scholars and enthusiasts. It is structured with a Board of Directors, a Governing Council, and various Standing Committees overseeing specific areas of activity.
